Our trends posts aim to bring you styles that were commonly seen or had a thread between fashion magazines. If you’ve been reading them, the popularity of hippie-inspired regalia should be no surprise. But as Mr. Sixties himself, Bob Dylan said, “The times they are a-changin’.” Styles have already been incorporating more androgynous and outlandish elements of the following seventies, and perhaps stemming from rock star outfits are a literal space theme.
Look to Look For posts will be about trends that aren’t exactly trends… yet. They may have only appeared in one magazine or is something we really hope takes off. So let’s hop in a rocket and take off (wink) to explore this intergalactic look!
Visit Planet Haute with brand name articles of clothing that depict the universe. Go dark and mysterious like this Alberta Ferretti dress or find pieces with neon galaxies. With such a vast subject, the possibilities are infinite!
Now that our rocket is out in outer space, we see our stars and moon. Get them embroidered on sweaters as seen in Nylon‘s “Lady Stardust” or in the form of jewelry like this Tai bangle.
Past the glimmering stars, we can land our rocket on a mass with its own gravity. Get your favorite gas giant on a skirt. This skater is not only cute but multifaceted. Well, since we’re here, we might as well look around…
Oh no! An alien! And it doesn’t look too friendly! Let’s go back home!
Back on Earth, we can enjoy space from the safety our own home. Break out your favorite film and series, and show off your nerdy pride on a classic tee. Sci-Fi has also been inspiration to red carpet Rodarte.
Science fiction has always inspired people to be bigger than the world around them. We saw a scary creature once, but it can’t fill all of space! Make your outlook optimistic and your outfits futuristic with robot metallics, holographic colors and planetary orb shapes.
So are you an astronaut in training? Or are you so grounded you’re extra terrestrial?
Thanks for reading!
