My Favorite Things

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

No, I’m not just singing songs from the Sound of Music (though I often do). This post is actually about my favorite things. As you may know from some of my other posts, I am all about self-love and self-care. I have been focusing a lot on spending time doing things I enjoy. So this morning, I grabbed just four simple things I have grown to love and decided to share them with you all.

First up, my journal. I’ve mentioned it before, but it just keeps popping up! I love writing in my journal. I will write about anything. My goals, my plans, my fears. I just love writing down my thoughts and feelings for me to reflect on later.

Second, a video game. I’m a gamer. I don’t game as often as I would like as life often gets in the way, but since I started forcing myself make time for it on the weekends, I honestly think I enjoy life a bit more.

Third, my Kanoodle Brain Teaser Puzzles. This was a completely random gift from my sister for Christmas and let me tell you…I’m hooked. It’s a bunch of puzzles with varying difficulty levels and I always seem to be up for the challenge.

Lastly, a book. Sometimes I’ve got the physical book, and sometimes it’s on my kindle, but one of my most favorite things to do is to lose myself in a world created by someone else. The book featured here is I’ll Give You the Sun,  a young adult novel by Jandy Nelson. I absolutely loved it.

So there you have it. Four simple things I could spend my whole weekend doing and not get bored. Plus, they are such a great way to relieve stress.

What are some of your favorite things? Comment below!

Procrastinator and wannabe writer. Big fan of sleep.

  1. I love reading favorite things posts! There are always the best nuggets to be found. I’m for sure going to check out the Kanoodle game .. my husband and I love to spend Sunday afternoons at the coffee shop eating muffins and playing games.

    1. Your Sundays sound awesome! Kanoodle is perfect for coffee shops because it is small and easy to carry around, but still so fun!

  2. Thanks for sharing your list. I am particularly interested in that Kanoodle thing! Well, during weekdays, there is not much time for favorite things, but the weekends are different. I love to relax with a good book too. On Saturday evenings, it is binge watching time with lots of buttery popcorn!

    1. My Kanoodle time is usually reserved for weekends. Weekdays are too busy for me as well. That buttery popcorn is making me consider adding a binge watching night to my weekend, too!

  3. A book and my journal are definitely two of my favourite things. I’d say my phone as I am a little addicted to being connected, and also candles are some of my favourite things x

  4. My Kindle has been my favorite thing as of late! I love how compact it is – it easily fits in my purse so I have it with me at all times 🙂 I should check out that book!

    1. Kindles are so great, because you can have tons of books all in one neat compact place. If you do decide to read that book, let me know what you think 😀

  5. I have never seen the Kanoodles puzzle! I know I must live under a rock right? I love puzzles and challenging myself. Maybe I can find it on Amazon.

  6. That has to be one of the most beautiful journals I have ever seen in my life! My favourite things are my laptop, my phone – although I need a new one- and my room.

  7. This is so cute! My favorite things include my puppy haha and food! Oh and a comfy couch- legit can spend my entire weekend doing that! haha sounds lazy but so heavenly!

  8. I love that you enjoy writing in your journal. It’s really awesome to be able to write your thoughts instead of typing them. These all sound like awesome items. It’s always nice to have a new book to read.

  9. I’ve never heard of kanoodle, but it sounds intriguing! I’m a gamer as well btw. I love MMORPGs 😊 Some of my favourite things are my Kindle and my iPhone lenses.

  10. Honestly I would be lost without a good book, to let my imagination run free and wild, is there anything better

  11. I havent seen Zelda in a long time. 🙂 This is a cute little selection of favorites. I’ve never seen the puzzle game before but I can see how that gets to be addictive. Its the little things in life that make life fun!
