PopSugar October 2013

Another late box! Here is my last month’s popsugar must have. I already got this month’s box. Stay posted!

Check out this treasure box filled with all sorts of goodies! This is a look last month’s contents and not so much individual reviews of the products inside.

Popsugar is one of the million subscription boxes that are out there. You name it and you can bet there’s a subscription box for it! Although a bit on the pricier side($35/month) as of November 2013, the price has gone up to $39.95/month. They do offer a great variety of items and the price of the products included usually exceeds $100, so I think you’re getting a pretty good deal. They offer a monthly subscription (that you can cancel anytime) and sometimes they do offer an exclusive box. For instance, they recently did a collaboration with Neiman Marcus for a luxury box that cost $250. Yeah, I know, if you’re someone like me, who’s not a billionaire, that sounds like a lot. That’s gas money and groceries for most people. But guess what? a lot of folks don’t seem to have a problem shelling out that kind of money for a box because it is SOLD OUT.

Anyway, let’s get this unboxing going…

For our first item. Jessica Seinfield’s The Can’t Cook Book $16.79. IMG_9690

I don’t know how much simpler cooking instructions can get. But this book definitely made it so simple, a 5th grader would be able to join master chef before flipping the last page of this recipe book. I don’t know the demographic of the subscribers of Popsugar Box, but I guess they figured most of us can’t cook. So thanks for this.

The next one is Julep for PopSugar Duo

IMG_9693

This duo comes with a pretty blue nail polish and a polymere (clear) top coat. The product info claims that the top coat “dries shiny and smudge-free in 5 minutes.” Their words not mine. I’ll stick to my gel polish thank you very much.

For the third item(s) I got the NYX Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner and Smokey Shadow Palette.

Another pallette to add to my collection. I’m not complaining. So far, the box has had makeup, nail products and a book. I’m telling you, the variety is pretty good. One thing about the eyeliner that I liked was that it didn’t smudge at all. Yes, I left it on my arm over night.

Up next, the Crispery Halloween Crispycake $3.95

IMG_9685

It’s supposedly gourmet. I mean, it’s rice crispies with sprinkles on top, so yeah. Well I ate it and it tasted like a crispycake. Good thing it was a pretty decent portion size too. Would I go out of my way to order these? probably not. I mean YOU might, but not me, but I can’t tell you what to do, I can only tell you what I think.

The Wet Brush $14.00

IMG_9682

A detangling brush for wet hair. Need I say more? Does it work? By work you mean, did it detangle my wet hair? yes, it did. Just like a regular ol’ brush or comb could. Did I lose some hair? Yes, there were some hair on the brush when I got done using it. So I’m having trouble discerning the difference between this and any regular brush.

The Gorjana Griffin Bali Bead Bracelet $45.00

Okay, if you have big wrists, don’t bother. I have a little girl’s wrist (which I am not proud of) so it fits me. I just read so many reviews on this bracelet from people who either had to give it away or sell since it fits really small. It is really nicely made though, and it’s for a good cause (Breast Cancer).

Moving on, Jane Tran Bobby Pins $12.00

IMG_9688Another hair stuff, I do have to say, that I think these are really cute. So if you’re into this kind of hair accessories, then you would probably love these bobby pins.

Last but not the least Stitch Fix $20.00 worth of credit

IMG_9689Stitch Fix is a subscription site where some stylist picks out a few items for you and they charge you a $20.00 fee. This card basically covers that styling fee but you still have to pay for the items. If you want to feel like a celebrity or some other important figure who needs stylists, then you can try this service!

There you have it folks. Last month’s Popsugar Must Have Box. For $35.00, do you think it’s worth it? I, for one, think last month’s box is just okay. I did like the make-up and the cookbook but even though some of the items I could live without, the variety of this box is still really good.
