Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream REVIEW

Hey everyone!

I don’t know about where you are, but it’s starting to really warm up where I’m at! This is usually the time where I put my heavy coverage foundation away and bring my BB and CC creams out. I usually like to try out different brands and luckily enough, I was sent this Studio Gear CC Cream with SPF 20 for a review and waited til I got a few good use out of it before writing a post.

Let’s get on with it, shall we?

This CC cream claims to be a hydrating formula that enhances complexion, fights signs of aging, covers and treats imperfection while remaining lightweight with a non-oily finish. Sounds very promising and everything anyone could ever ask for from a cc cream right?

As you can see, it comes in a squeeze tube and  the packaging is very clean and simple. It has a faint smell of sunblock but not overpowering. I don’t really mind that smell anyway. The thing is, it only comes in 3 shades and I got what seems to be darkest shade out of the 3.

Here are the swatches for Wheat.

This shade blended really smoothly and one thing that is noticeable is how soft it made my skin feel. You can see that it left a bit of a shine after it’s all blended in.

I have a few blemishes and some discoloration so I was a little worried about the light coverage. It evens out my skin tone pretty well BUT as you can see from the picture below, it does nothing for the red blemishes on my cheeks. Another thing is that I have oily skin and this product is supposed to be “hydrating” without being oily but it took about 3-4 hours til I started seeing shine even with powder after.

With that said, just like all products out there, this one has it’s pros and cons. If you have dry skin, I definitely would recommend this product but if you have oily-combo skin like I do, it might not be the best choice for you.

Day dreamer. Lover of all things cute and pretty. I also have a thing with planners/organizers.

  1. I have never tried this before but it might not suit my skin as I have really dry skin which then turns oily very quickly! It’s a never ending cycle of which cream should I apply and it’s exhausting!
I really love this review and how detailed it is! It is so simple and you provide all the information I needed about this product! I absolutely love your blog!!!

    1. Aw thanks Karine! It really take a lot of trial and error (if you’re willing to put that much work) to find the right products for our skin.

    1. Thanks! Yes, it does give a nice dewy finish but after a few hours that dewiness will turn into a slip and slide on my face

  2. I haven’t tried a CC Cream, but I’m very intrigued. It sounds like a great summer product because they’re lightweight, but as someone who suffers from red spots and hyper pigmentation, I’m worried about the coverage. BB creams are awesome though.

  3. I have tried all sorts of BBs but no CC so far! 😀 I heard they are similar, my only problem is that I like full coverage so foundations are my go to

  4. Thank you for reviewing!!!!! I have this same problem with BB and CC creams dependent on the formula, but I also think it is generally more suited for slightly dryer skin 🙂

    1. I think that’s it! I have a BB cream specifically for oily type and it works great but most I’ve seen have been catering to drier skin 🙂
