Yoga Playlist Series

Hello all! I was stretching my way through my morning yoga routine when it hit me. Why don’t I share my yoga (and other workout) playlists with you all? I know that many people enjoy very calming or perhaps even no music for a yoga routine. For me personally, yoga can be enjoyable when done to any kind of song I love.

Although sometimes my selection is random, I tend to go for themes in my yoga routines. Today’s theme was “Feel good.” It’s a bright, beautiful morning and I just wanted to hear some feel good music to keep me in a sunny mood for the rest of the day.

So here’s my “Feel Good” Yoga Playlist:

“Put Your Records On”- Corrine Bailey Rae

Maybe sometimes we feel afraid, but it’s alright.

What a freeing song. This is the type of song I throw on when I have the overwhelming urge to dance, smile, and feel good all at the same time.

“Wonderful” – India Arie

Stevie beautiful, Stevie powerful, Stevie spiritual, Stevie wonderful.

One only need to be slightly familiar with the work of Mr. Stevie Wonder to recognize this as a beautiful tribute to his work.

“Shake it Out”-Florence + the Machine

It’s always darkest before the dawn.

I don’t think I will ever get tired of this song. It basically demands that I dance. Most of the time I start dancing before I’m even aware of it.

“Barlights”- FUN

And for the first time in a long time, I feel alive.

Fun is one of my favorite bands with so many songs I hold dear to my heart. This one however, fits my theme perfectly.

“On Top of the World” – Imagine Dragons

I take it in but don’t look down.

“I’m on top of the world.” I pretty much want to feel this way everyday. (I’m actually playing this right now as I type and I still can’t resist dancing!)

“Send Me on My Way” – Rusted Root

And we will run, we will, and we will crawl, we will.

Many people are familiar with this song from the movie Ice Age, but if you are like me and grew up watching Matilda regularly perhaps you remember this song from that movie. Perhaps it’s childhood nostalgia that makes me so fond of this song.

“Ordinary Day” – Vanessa Carlton

Don’t you see your dreams lie right in the palm of your hand?

Another one of my favorite artists. I love this song. A beautiful melody with beautiful lyrics. Pure and simple.

“Forca” – Nelly Furtado

It is the soundtrack of your ever flowing life.

“Strength” is Wikipedia’s translation of this beautiful song. I find this to be a completely appropriate title I always feel powerful whenever I listen to it.

And that was that! After stretching and listening to these songs I’m now prepared to have a bright, beautiful day. Do you have themes for your workouts? What’s on your yoga playlists?
